Jim Proffitt has more than 40 years of experience working with corporations, pension plans, individuals, and families on issues including investment management, income and estate tax planning, and philanthropy.

Prior to forming Proffitt & Goodson in 1986, Jim was a CPA in private practice, where he managed tax planning, preparation, and wealth transfer strategies for high-net-worth individuals.  Earlier he served in leadership roles at First Tennessee Bank in Memphis, Tennessee, and for Citizens Bank in Louisville, Kentucky.

Jim holds a BA in economics from Vanderbilt University and a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Jim has served in numerous community leadership roles over the years.
